Hong Kong
Iroha

The bright and airy ambiance of Iroha is a welcome respite from normal yakiniku shops, which usually prefer a dark, watering-hole feel. Instead, this neat and cosy restaurant offers three seating areas: cheerily lit private booths, tatami matting, and a large exclusive room for 12 people. As one would expect, various types of Wagyu cuts are available, and while all of them are superb, the nakaochi karube ($230) is undoubtedly the star of the show. This beautiful marbled short rib is as tender, succulent and tasty as any meat can be, something steak lovers should definitely fall head over heels for.

The thick cut Wagyu beef tongue ($200) from the a la carte menu is another delicacy that should not be missed. With astounding flavour, it just melts in your mouth – pure heaven. However, be prepared to spend. The price of most dishes is generally on the steep side, but you do get what you pay for, and a meal here is well worth every penny. Trust us when we say the quality and variety on offer, especially the extensive choice of Wagyu cuts, is simply unbeatable in Hong Kong.
